Children Should See Their Chiropractor Too! | New Health and Fitness

New Health And Fitness.Org - Health Information You Can Use

Here?s a novel idea: chiropractic care is not just for adults, but children can safely be cared for by a doctor of chiropractic. It has been clinically established that chiropractic treatments are very efficient in caring for a wide range of childhood illnesses, including asthmas, attention deficit disorder, and scoliosis, to name a few. Today, we have chosen to dive into the question of the safety of chiropractic adjustments for children.

Chiropractic, of course, is not merely used to handle various diagnoses, but especially useful for preventative purposes. From my years as a doctor of chiropractic, I have had the chance to care for and treat many kids for both purposes. Consequently, I have been asked many questions from apprehensive parents about the safety of chiropractic adjustments for their young ones. Based on my professional experience as a chiropractor, my answer is that, yes, chiropractic is very safe, even for children. As with any other medical practice, it is important to prove this statement with research.

In 2008, Miller and Benfield completed a study with children younger than the age of three years old to determine any adverse effects of chiropractic care. The results of that study were published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. Why only children so young? At this age, kids are the most fragile and therefore the most inclined to accidents and injury.

Miller and Benfield?s study, published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, comprised more than 5,000 chiropractic adjustments, of which fewer than 1% resulted in undesirable side effects for the patients. The side effects that did occur were very mild ? most generally, crying ? in nature and did not need any more medical care. The study results suggest that chiropractic treatment is extremely safe for young kids and adolescents.

During my own time in the office, I have treated many little patients and cannot call to mind any examples of when one of my little patients had any negative or adverse side effects to their treatments. I have cared for and successfully treated kids with a variety of ailments, including, but not limited to, headaches, ear infections, neck and low back pain, whiplash, cerebral palsy, scoliosis, attention deficit disorder, etc.

A lot of my child patients opt for chiropractic treatment as a last resort, after extensive visits to their physician and medical specialists for treatment of their illnesses. A lot of my small patients have been desperate for help after trying all of the other medical options, expensive therapies and difficult tests. Naturally, traditional medicine and pediatric care are both very important, but chiropractic care should not be overlooked; instead, chiropractic care should be recommended as a safe, healthy, and excellent alternative to a physician?s diagnosis and care.

Public Speaking for kids can overcome speech and communication ...

I firmly believe that children that learn to speak in public are developing valuable skills necessary for success in life. Being able to communicate effectively is not only necessary for negotiation and persuasion but also for future networking and builds?Emotional Intelligence?which in some cases is more important than IQ.

London, United Kingdom (PRWEB) February 27, 2012

Last year The Communication Trust announced a 58 per cent rise over the past five years in the number of young school children with speech, language and communication difficulties. The CBI also released a report last year revealing poor communication is a major complaint employers have against employees, indirectly holding back our economic growth. Public Speaking for Kids, a new online service, aims to change that. Andries Smit has set up a number of businesses in recent years and is now launchingPublicspeakingforkids.org?a website which provides tips and guidance on how parents and teachers can encourage their children and pupils to take up this skill and develop it in fun ways to benefit their children, throughout their lives. Originally launched in South Africa, the business became phenomenally successful and Smit believes the time is right to introduce the concept to a much wider audience. In an age of high tech communication where young people often spend more time typing messages with deliberate spelling mistakes than listening, reasoning and developing their persuasive speaking abilities, it is understandable that these revelations are a major concern that could worsen in years to come; further damaging the UK and US economies as an appropriately skilled workforce becomes increasingly difficult to find. One concerned parent is applying his entrepreneurial spirit and taking matters into his own hands to help not only his own offspring but other parents? children too. Little time is put into teaching soft skills in the Western world?s curriculum. Traditionally this has been seen as a realm for parents? involvement. However many children from families consisting of two breadwinners are spending less time with their parents. Soft skills suffer greatly as a result and we are seeing the consequences in our schools, workplaces and unemployment statistics. Despite his?Public Speaking for Kids?initiative, Smit believes there is more to be done. ?The Government should address the communication skills short fall by teaching public speaking at a younger age as a core part of the curriculum. We have an element in English at GCSE where children are assessed on their ability to deliver a pre-prepared talk, but I do not think this provides enough time for children to develop the skills of speaking in public. It helps those who have a natural ability but the concern is that a growing number of children enter and leave school without this skill. ?Children need to be taught how to address an audience ? it is now more important than ever. Public speaking courses can instil in children the confidence and poise they need to deal with the challenges of later life, from job interviews to addressing large teams at work?. Public Speaking for Kids?is an attempt to address these challenges head-on and to help and empower teachers and parents to help their children and students become good public speakers. Despite having recently launched, Smit has some major plans and will constantly be developing and updating the products and services on offer. The first product will be an e-book: The A-Z of Public Speaking for Kids. Disclaimer: ?The above post may contain affiliate links. ?For more information, please read my disclosure page.

Vision and Dental Insurance | My Carbon Offsets 4 Sale

For most of us who work and get medical benefits through our employer, once a year we are asked to select an insurance plans as part of our health benefits. Every year we are also given a choice to add coverage for dental and vision insurance.

Some employers may not provide the coverage for both dental and vision coverage but in some cases they may cover up to a certain amounts or some basic services. For example federal employees have their own federal employees dental and vision insurance program.

Normally since we go along with the employers group insurance provider we may be able to get a discount rate for vision and dental plans.

It is highly recommended for you to scrutinize the dental and vision plans offered in order to see what are the services covered and you can do the cost benefit analysis. That is comparing the services offered to the monthly premium amounts that you have to pay.

Most of the time you will come out as a winner, since dental and vision package can save you a lot of money in the long run. Most of the major provider make this plan available at a reasonable rate. Some of the plan are tied to your health insurance but some are available independently.

At the same time you may also realize that your vision or dental check up are long overdue and it is about time to visit the dentist or eye doctor.

Most of the adults do not visit eye doctor or dental office on a regular basis. Many of us will visit the dentist and the eye doctor only when we have problems and absolutely have no other choice.

It is very important for the adults to get regular dental and vision care especially as we get older. Of course with the coverage of dental and vision plan, that would take care of the expenses for the services provided.

The cost for dental and vision insurance is relatively cheaper than the regular medical or health insurance. For a simple reason since your visit to dentist or eye doctor are less frequent than your visit to family doctor.

On a final note, it is a very good deal to have both dental and vision insurance as a package plan. If you look at the long term the benefits, it is far out weight the monthly cost.

Dental and vision expenses are normally quite expensive. Without insurance coverage it is pretty painful to pay from your own pockets.

Dwyane Wade Led Fatherhood Roundtable At NBA All-Star ...

Miami Heat golden boy Dwyane Wade started off his NBA All-Star Weekend by reaching out to his fellow dads and presenting a basketball court to a school ? all while looking super fly in a double-breasted Versace suit.

Read:Ways Parents Can Teach Children To Care About Others

Friday morning Wade led a Fatherhood Heroes roundtable discussion on Friday at Orlando City Hall, spreading a message to fathers about the importance of being involved in their children?s lives. For the roundtable, part of a series in President Barack Obama?s Fatherhood & Mentoring Initiative, Wade was joined by White House official Joshua Dubois, special assistant to the president and executive director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

Wade was asked to join Obama?s fatherhood task force in 2011, shortly after he gained sole custody of his two sons following a long custody battle with his now ex-wife Siohvaughn Wade. Click here to read more

Is customer service dead? Or, is business desperate? | Ric Willmot ...

Warning: This is a long post.

Business must be booming when customer service is non-existent. Or, perhaps the reason customer service is non-existent is because the organisation is doing so poorly?

Take my current experience with an internet company. This company had been hosting the domain for a website I considered I may launch, but never did. If you?re not failing at times then you?re not reaching for loftier goals. This was one of those times ? where I failed. When I registered the domain and hosting, I paid in advance for three years. It never saw the light of day because no matter how I structured the concept it didn?t truly support my business model. I therefore forgot the whole idea.

On 14 February this year I received an automated e-mail from the internet service provider, NetRegistry, informing me they would automatically renew the service on March 13. (I could have contacted NetRegistry in the first six months and requested a refund of the unused amount (two-and-a-half years) and cancel the service. I didn?t.)

I replied to this e-mail stating that the service had not been used in the three years, and did not wish to renew. That?s when customer service 101 got the short shrift. A standard reply:

NetRegistry standard reply

NetRegistry expecting the customer to do their job for them.

Does this response leave you cold? It did me. This was a response wanting me to complete a raft of online forms in order to not ?renew? a service. I might infer it is designed to inconvenience and frustrate exiting customers such that they yield and decide to retain the service rather than transfer to another provider. But I do not know that this is the motivation for NetRegsitry. I clicked on the links and a plethora of information is spewed forth, and I am requested to login using my login ID and password. ? I have absolutely no idea. I never used the service in the entire three years. Trying to use my normal username and password that I use for most everything did not work.

My groans must have been audible. My wife asks what?s the problem and I told her. ?What on earth are you doing taking your time on such matters. Let them handle it for you, it?s just good customer service.? She was right. I replied again asking they make a note on the file not to ?renew?. And, I got this response:

NetRegistry does everything it can to frustrate customers.

NetRegistry hides behind "Terms & Conditions" rather than exciting customers with good service.

This e-mail above validated my wife?s comments that, ??. it?s just good customer service.?

My response was swift and sharp. My opening paragraph stated that I was not upset with the person writing the e-mails but rather the company policy which approved of such poor service. To quote from my e-mail to NetRegistry:

?Word-of-mouth is a powerful thing.?When customers are delighted they speak positively about their experience when the topic arises.?When customers are satisfied they usually say nothing much to anyone at all.?When customers are dissatisfied they tell everyone they possibly can as often as they possibly can.?Which category do you think I may now fall into?

Rather than hiding behind arbitrary ?Terms and Conditions? NetRegistry could have displayed some positive customer service and attempted to show some common courtesy and good business sense to maintain some level of satisfaction from me to reconsider doing business with you in the future and recommending you to others whom I know. (I know a real lot of people.)?

Here?s the response I received from Daniel. Peter, has now exited the discussion!

NetRegistry finding all the excuses not to do something instead of reasons to do something

NetRegistry finding excuses NOT to do something instead of reasons TO do something

Above, Daniel spends an inordinate amount of time typing a long excuse?(this e-mail goes on for another four paragraphs) as to why he won?t do something to provide good customer service rather than taking just a few brief moments to provide worthwhile customer service to make a positive impression. His point that I would think differently if I met the staff; well, I?m not so sure. They don?t even seem able to pick up the telephone and speak with me, let alone meet with me. I respond, sarcastically:

Ric Willmot's response to NetRegistry

My sarcastic response to NetRegistry's lack of customer service and goodwill.

?

Then Daniel lost all credibility with his final response attempting to bring some type of validation to their poor level of customer service:

NetRegistry E-mail 15 Feb 2012

NetRegistry Customer Service at its best

NetRegistry are failing to lift a finger to provide any customer service, because I could possibly be ?? an ex-employee? wanting to cause problems. An ex-employee still using the standard and listed company e-mail address of Executive Wisdom with all of the contact points included in the signature file? Seriously, does this make a lick of sense? NO. Daniel could have picked up the telephone, called the number listed in the signature file that corresponds with their records, and asked if I was Mr. Willmot and if I did intend not to renew the service. But instead he sends this sadly pathetic e-mail as an excuse for inactivity and zero customer consideration. By the way, in this instance, he did not even sign off with his name or a ?yours truly?.

This is clearly an example of how NOT to treat your customers. Stay tuned for the next instalment of ?NetRegistry Re-writes the Customer Service Manual?.

NYT: Prison dementia makes caregivers of killers

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. ? Secel Montgomery Sr. stabbed a woman in the stomach, chest and throat so fiercely that he lost count of the wounds he inflicted. In the nearly 25 years he has been serving a life sentence, he has gotten into fights, threatened a prison official and been caught with marijuana.

Despite that, he has recently been entrusted with an extraordinary responsibility. He and other convicted killers at the California Men?s Colony help care for prisoners with Alzheimer?s disease and other types of dementia, assisting ailing inmates with the most intimate tasks: showering, shaving, applying deodorant, even changing adult diapers.

Their growing roster of patients includes Joaquin Cruz, a convicted killer who is now so addled that he thinks he sees his brother in the water of a toilet, and Walter Gregory, whose short-term memory is ebbing even as he vividly recalls his crime: stabbing and mutilating his girlfriend with a switchblade.

?I cut her eyes out, too,? Mr. Gregory declared recently.

Dementia in prison is an underreported but fast-growing phenomenon, one that many prisons are desperately unprepared to handle. It is an unforeseen consequence of get-tough-on-crime policies ? long sentences that have created a large population of aging prisoners. About 10 percent of the 1.6 million inmates in America?s prisons are serving life sentences; another 11 percent are serving over 20 years.

And more older people are being sent to prison. In 2010, 9,560 people 55 and older were sentenced, more than twice as many as in 1995. In that same period, inmates 55 and older almost quadrupled, to nearly 125,000, a Human Rights Watch report found.

While no one has counted cognitively impaired inmates, experts say that prisoners appear more prone to dementia than the general population because they often have more risk factors: limited education, hypertension, diabetes, smoking, depression, substance abuse, even head injuries from fights and other violence.

Many states consider over-50 prisoners elderly, saying they age up to 15 years faster.

With many prisons already overcrowded and understaffed, inmates with dementia present an especially difficult challenge. They are expensive ? medical costs for older inmates range from three to nine times as much as those for younger inmates. They must be protected from predatory prisoners. And because dementia makes them paranoid or confused, feelings exacerbated by the confines of prison, some attack staff members or other inmates, or unwittingly provoke fights by wandering into someone else?s cell.

?The dementia population is going to grow tremendously,? says Ronald H. Aday, a sociologist and the author of ?Aging Prisoners: Crisis in American Corrections.? ?How are we going to take care of them??

Some prison systems are confronting that now. Many would like to transfer demented inmates to nursing homes, but their often-violent crimes make states reluctant to parole them and nursing homes reluctant to take them.

New York has taken the top-dollar route, establishing a separate unit for cognitively impaired inmates and using professional caregivers, at a cost of about $93,000 per bed annually, compared with $41,000 in the general prison population. Pennsylvania and other states are giving mental health workers special dementia training.

But some struggling prison systems, including those in Louisiana and California, are taking a less expensive but potentially riskier approach. They are training prisoners to handle many of the demented inmates? daily needs.

  1. Don't miss these Health stories

    1. Sudden OCD in kids? Culprit may be strep throat

Brendan Wooldridge, 10, of St. Louis, developed sudden symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder after several bouts of strep. Years later, he was diagnosed with a rare disorder that finds a link between infections and mental illness.

    2. Our Lin-sane attraction to terrible puns, explained
    3. Happy 'werewolf' girl says she's proud to be special
    4. Can you get addicted to ice cream? Maybe
    5. Dirty surgical tools a problem in the OR

?Yeah, they did something horrible to end up here,? said Cheryl Steed, a psychologist at the California Men?s Colony, where prisoners who help inmates with dementia are called Gold Coats because their yellow jackets contrast with the standard-issue blue. But without them, she said, ?we wouldn?t be able to care for our dementia patients very well.?

After escorting Joaquin Cruz to an appointment, James Evers, a Gold Coat, was returning him to their adobe-colored cellblock when they encountered corrections officers strip-searching inmates for missing tools.

Mr. Cruz, 60, who barely recalls that he is in prison for killing someone who sold him fake cocaine, grew confused and resistant when guards tried searching him. ?He has Alzheimer?s,? Mr. Evers managed to explain. ?It?s not that he?s refusing to do what you?re asking.?

At the prison, shadowed by seacoast mountains, Gold Coats are paid $50 a month and have better knowledge of impaired prisoners? conditions than many prison guards. Gold Coats, trained by the Alzheimer?s Association and given thick manuals on dementia, were the first to notice when Mr. Cruz began putting his boots on the wrong feet and ?started pulling down his pants and going to the bathroom wherever he was,? said Phillip Burdick, a Gold Coat who is serving a life sentence for beating a man to death with a hammer.

Gold Coats report these changes, often at weekly support group meetings with Dr. Steed. They identify ?different tricks and strategies to get guys to do what they need to do,? she said.

Before the program was started in 2009, demented inmates frequently caused fights, hitting those they considered threatening or disturbing other prisoners by encroaching on their turf. ?The whole atmosphere was hostile,? said Bettina Hodel, a psychologist who started the program and once narrowly avoided being struck herself. Now, Gold Coats absorb much of that behavior.

?I been swung at, got a big fat lip, and my glasses have been broken,? said Ramon Ca?as, a Gold Coat who killed a hitchhiker who stole his car. He said Gold Coats ? there are currently six of them for about 40 inmates ? often wear surgical gloves because they are exposed to ?a lot of body fluids.?

Protecting the Vulnerable
But they also protect demented inmates from prisoners who try assaulting, abusing or robbing them. When Steven Berry, a Gold Coat, caught two inmates picking a demented prisoner?s pockets, he barreled toward them. ?Got the stuff back,? reported Mr. Berry, a former Navy signalman who killed his sister-in-law and tried to kill his wife.

Gold Coats get harassed and called snitches for seeming to side with prison officials and because of the perks they receive. In the dining hall, to help dementia patients who, as Mr. Burdick says, ?start forgetting basic things like what is a spork for,? Gold Coats sit with them at special ?slow eater? tables, where meals are allowed to stretch beyond the usual 10 to 12 minutes.

When a prisoner tried stealing a patient?s dessert, Mr. Montgomery, one of the Gold Coats, snarled, ?You got to give him his cookie back.?

?Who are you, the PO-lice?? the inmate barked. Mr. Montgomery retorted, ?Yes, I?m the PO-lice!?

More inmates have dementia than prison officials realize, experts say. Prison routines can mask symptoms like forgetfulness. Corrections officers are used to punishing aggressive inmates, not evaluating them for Alzheimer?s.

?Not responding to questions appropriately, being belligerent ? it?s just considered bad behavior,? said Sharen Barboza, director of clinical operations for MHM Services, a prison mental health provider that trains prison officials.

New York?s Unit for the Cognitively Impaired, begun five years ago, has so far cared for 84 inmates, but ?there?s a number of people in the system that we really haven?t tapped,? said Paul Kleinman, the program?s psychologist. ?They?re not being identified properly.?

Alzheimer?s currently affects 5.4 million Americans, a number expected to double by 2040. Experts believe that Alzheimer?s disease in prisons could grow two or three times as fast, said John Wilson, senior clinical operations specialist for MHM, because ?protective factors that might mitigate developing dementia are slim to none in prison ? things like complex jobs, rich social environment, leisure activities.?

Realizing that California, with nearly 13,000 inmates 55 and older, could not adequately care for demented prisoners, Dr. Hodel, when she was starting the Gold Coat program, asked the regional chapter of the Alzheimer?s Association to train inmates to help. The chapter?s area director, Sara Bartlett, worried that she and Arlene Stepputat, then the program director, would not be safe as ?women in a man?s prison.? She doubted whether violent felons could provide sensitive care.

Both women were surprised that inmates seemed more receptive, with less-complicated emotional ties to the patients than many of the people they trained to care for relatives at home. ?They were much easier to work with,? Ms. Stepputat said.

Heriberto G. Sanchez, chief psychologist of the California Men?s Colony, said prisoners ?were appreciative that someone from the outside world thought they could do this.? One wrote in an evaluation, ?Thank you for allowing me to feel human.?

The prison requires that Gold Coats have ?a clean behavior record for about 5 to 10 years,? Dr. Steed said. So far, only one Gold Coat has been removed, because ?he had problems? with dementia patients? messy eating and other behaviors, Dr. Hodel said.

For inmates, the job has attractions. It pays better than other prison work and polishes a prisoner?s record.

Two Gold Coats have received parole.

One of them, Shawn Henderson, who got 25 years to life for a 1985 double murder and was twice denied parole, was released last February. Doing a job where ?you get spit on, feces thrown on you, urine on you, you get cursed out? helped teach him to cope outside prison, said Mr. Henderson, 46. ?Now when I come into an encounter like that on the street, I can be a lot more compassionate,? he said. ?And I don?t look at telling authorities as snitching anymore.?

Gold Coats conduct exercise classes and run meetings designed to stimulate memory and lessen disorientation. They escort inmates to doctors, acting as their intermediaries.

And they often need to be deft. One 73-year-old inmate stands by a gate most mornings, waiting for his long-dead mother to pick him up. Sometimes he refuses to shower, afraid of missing her. Mr. Evers coaxes him inside, telling him that his mother ?wants you to shower before she gets here.?

More subtlety is required for Mr. Gregory, 71, who is serving a life sentence for brutalizing his girlfriend with a switchblade ? throwing her body parts in the trash and getting caught, he said, when ?I went right back to the room that I killed her in and had sex with another? woman. He does not believe he has dementia, but his gradually accumulating symptoms include breaking a mop over an inmate?s head and writing to outside agencies under the delusion that he will be granted parole.

To assist Mr. Gregory, Samuel Baxter, a Gold Coat who fatally shot a co-worker, firing six times, gently reminds him about bed making and schedules. ?You have to allow Mr. Gregory to come to you,? Mr. Baxter said.

There are limits to what Gold Coats can do. They can file patients? fingernails, for instance, but not clip them because that constitutes a professional caregiving responsibility that cannot legally be delegated to inmates. And there are indignities, like cleaning up after inmates who urinate on the floor.

?A year ago,? Mr. Baxter said, ?I couldn?t have said, ?You know what man, I?m going to go help this grown man get in the shower,? ? and ?get in there and help these guys wash theirself off.?

Gold Coats say they are moved by the work. ?I?m a person who was broken,? said Mr. Burdick, who during 35 years in prison lost a wife to AIDS and a 16-year-old daughter to suicide. Dementia patients often ?don?t even say thank you,? he said, but ?they just pat me like that and I know what that means.?

Mr. Ca?as said: ?I didn?t have any feelings about other people. I mean, in that way, I was a predator.? Now, he said, ?I?m a protector.?

Still, the Gold Coats have not figured out how to help Leon Baham.

When Mr. Baham, 71, received a dementia diagnosis a year ago, a psychiatrist, Dr. Russell Marks, noted that he pined for his wife ?almost as though at moments he didn?t realize? that his crime had been ?murdering the woman he was tearful about.?

In a recent interview, Mr. Baham recalled the murder hazily: ?Blood everywhere. She said, ?Sweetheart.? ?

He has repeatedly been placed in the crisis center, once after ?he urinated on the floor, he was banging his head on the cage, he needed a spit mask to prevent his spitting on others,? and he was ?threatening to kill persons that he believed stole his watch,? Dr. Marks said.

After trying to enter the wrong cell, he told Dr. Steed, ?I?m going to kill myself,? adding, ?I don?t want to live this way.?

He was sent to a psychiatric hospital, returning less depressed. But he often sits confused in the yard. ?I forget why I was going out there,? Mr. Baham said. ?I?m slipping a little bit.?

Still, he resists the Gold Coats? help and believes that he would have to pay them. Oblique assistance, like Mr. Burdick bringing him a jacket, is all he accepts so far.

?I don?t need them, you know,? Mr. Baham said.

?I Was a Monster?
The compassion Secel Montgomery is required to show in his job as a Gold Coat was nowhere to be seen in the killing he committed in 1987. He wanted money for alcohol, and when his former sister-in-law refused, ?I knocked her unconscious, tied her up and stabbed her.? Then he washed his hands and called his wife for a ride.

He grabbed things that had his fingerprints on them, but left his infant nephew there alone. ?I figured that?s kidnapping,? he explained.

Mr. Montgomery, sentenced to 26 years to life, spent 17 years in a high-security prison for ?disobeying orders,? he said. He made contraband alcohol called ?pruno.?

Only in 2000, after Mr. Montgomery, 47, was found with marijuana, accused of threatening a prison official and locked in the ?hole,? did he decide to change. ?I was a monster,? he said.

Families of demented inmates seem unperturbed that prisoners like Mr. Montgomery now have so much responsibility. Laura Eklund, Mr. Cruz?s niece, said prison officials have asked if his relatives wanted him paroled, but the family has declined. ?To be honest, the care he?s receiving in prison, we could not match,? she said.

When Mr. Cruz spies his own reflection, he often believes it is his brother Sergio. To keep him from getting agitated, his cell mirror has been covered with tape. But now when he looks into a toilet, he calls: ?Hey, my brother, he?s down there. I can?t get him out.?

Mr. Montgomery said he tries to reassure Mr. Cruz, but if Mr. Cruz is locked in his cell, Mr. Montgomery ? still a prisoner, after all ? cannot enter even if he is allowed out of his own cell. He will call to Mr. Cruz through a tiny window in the thick metal door. ?All I can do is say, ?Cruz, come here, come here, come here,? but he?ll stand there,? staring helplessly into the toilet and agonizing. ? ?See, see, look, see.? ?

Junky Silver Gold coins ? An excellent Way to start out Investing in ...

It isn?t secret to confident been viewing the gold and silver market one more year that the asking price of silver is far more unpredictable than that for the other gold and silver. Then your bottom was thrown off out. More frequently though, I?ve got bought each and every day or only two before expense took the steep immerse themselves. Nowadays, the money necessary for platinum increases faster as opposed to the requirement with silver. The rather credible idea on quantities is that your institutional investors are definitely the only individuals with sufficient clout to produce a noticeable influence on volume. Volume along with price activity, or index chart patterns, indicate supply/demand with the stock by simply institutional individuals.

Silver investing could be fun by checking out bars, times, coins much like the American Components Eagle, spot price silver by selecting graded loose change with respected 3rd social gathering grading companies which includes NGC and / or PCGS.

You unfortunately have also listened to that ?the trend is the best friend? in the investing checking and understand.

Fantastic guest lecturer Levi Morin reassured, ?Many for the current investors are searching to metallic bullion buy silver coins online inflation hedge, but that may be really only system of the story.? Not merely is metallic undervalued against gold, but silver is usually a hedge using an industrial kicker. Silver is needed in several thousand industrial processes it is in popular. The just one I find out real assurance in is having hybrid and also electric automotive batteries. Many will pick out silver, a couple ounces at this time, before the worth goes substantial. Make sure buy junk silver online your metallic from professional companies on the web. The Kitco Components spot price provides you with just the fact that, spot. It provides you with a solid value to get silver bullion. Because they?re tied to some relatively long-standing commodity, these suppliers aren?t in most cases as unpredictable as a great number of other stocks that anyone can buy to. The effective and nimble cougar is located throughout To the north and South usa. With that economy going through what it will be doing and also federal wildlife reserve continuing towards print money in great ammounts, it would seem inevitable that gold and silver will maximize in importance right?.

Each for these investments once again was made as a result of great funding fundamentals every one showed, in that all asset had being able to provide a significant cash flow after the asset ended up being ?put to production? so-to-speak (apartment items all produced and hired out; bore holes pumping available gas and/or essential oil; mine producing a pile of gold, etc). The result of very first sharp increase inside the money present in past due 2009 is only now starting out be thought. The only two main solutions to invest are usually in coins and / or in stocks and shares, both contain their advantages and disadvantages. The finest ?investment? meaning with the long haul is without question silver loose change, but it needs to be the ideal coins and also companies AS I spoke with just weren?t suggesting the appropriate coins.

Clarence Thomas for President?

With the Republican presidential nomination still up in the air, the possibility of a brokered convention is looking increasingly likely. Under the party?s rules, the delegates won by Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, and the others in the primaries and caucuses are obligated to vote for their assigned candidate only on the first ballot. If no candidate wins the required number of votes, the delegates can throw their support to anyone. There?s speculation that party insiders, unhappy with the current field, might float the candidacy of someone not now in the race, like New Jersey Governor Chris Christie or Jeb Bush.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas

While Christie and Bush might be fine candidates, perhaps the Republicans should consider a more inspired and game-changing pick: Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Far-fetched?? Maybe. But a Thomas candidacy would energize Republicans in a way that few other Republicans can and would steal tremendous media attention from President Barack Obama.

Unlike the flip-flopping Mitt Romney, Thomas is a true conservative who could appeal to all of the segments of the Republican coalition. Tea Partiers would see Thomas as one of their own. Not only has he been a consistent voice to curtail the power of the federal government but his wife Ginni, a Tea Party activist herself, has been a leader in the fight to repeal Obama?s healthcare reform law. Wall Street Republicans would be buoyed by Thomas?s opposition to environmental regulation and his free market philosophy.? Blue-collar workers could embrace Thomas?s up-by-his-bootstraps story of rising from incredible poverty?until he was 7, his home had no indoor plumbing?and his votes to end affirmative action and preserve the Second Amendment. Evangelicals will like that he?s against abortion, gay rights, and limits on prayer in school.

Thomas is also very smart. When he first joined the Supreme Court, some people thought he would just mimic Justice Antonin Scalia, the intellectual leader of the Court?s conservative wing. Over the years, however, Thomas has become a powerful voice for his brand of constitutional conservatism and has proven himself a more devout believer in originalism than even Scalia. Today, it seems as if Scalia is more likely to follow Thomas.

Although known for his silence on the bench?he hasn?t asked a question during oral argument in several years?Thomas is outgoing and charming off the bench. When he was on tour promoting his autobiography, he easily engaged audiences with his wit, insight, and willingness to talk straight about his upbringing and the Court. About his refusal to ask questions, he?s drawn laughs by joking that his ?colleagues should shut up!?

While he lacks experience in international affairs and the economy, it would be hard for Democrats to portray Thomas as unqualified for the presidency. He?s worked at the highest levels of government for over two decades, far longer? the single-term junior senator from Illinois who currently occupies the White House. With considerably less experience than Thomas, Justice Charles Evans Hughes came just a handful of electoral votes away from being elected president in 1916. Despite Thomas?s long service on the Supreme Court, he could also reasonably cast himself as an outsider to Washington? politics unsullied by the partisan taint that comes from raising money and legislative logrolling.

Of course, there is no such thing as a perfect candidate. The media would surely bring up Anita Hill?s allegations of sexual harassment. Voters who looked past Barack Obama's and George W. Bush?s youthful drug use, however, might be similarly inclined to forgive Thomas for an indiscretion that occurred 30 years ago. It?s also hard to imagine the Democrats, who still embrace Bill Clinton, gaining much traction with Hill?s old accusations.

Democrats will find plenty of potentially controversial things in Thomas?s judicial opinions, but even here Thomas has a trump card. Those were not statements of his personal political positions, he can say, but merely interpretations of the law. As a judge, he was obligated to reach certain decisions. As president, he can more freely pursue his own policy agenda.

The idea of Thomas running for president was floated two years ago by two legal bloggers, David Lat and Kashmir Hill. They noted that when Thomas was first nominated to the bench, he expressed hesitation about the solitary, sedate environment that comes with the black robe. ?I can't see myself spending the rest of my life as a judge,? Thomas said.

Thomas has worked at the highest levels of government for over two decades, far longer than the single-term senator from Illinois who currently occupies the White House.

Yet one of the biggest downsides of Lat and Hill?s proposal?that Thomas would have to resign from the Court to run, thereby permitting President Obama to replace him with a more liberal justice?no longer applies with the same force. If drafted at the convention at the end of August, Thomas would still have to resign. Nevertheless, Republicans in the Senate could plausibly justify a filibuster of any Obama nominee on the ground that the seat should be filled by whoever wins the White House in November, two months later. And then they?d keep their fingers crossed that Thomas would be that person.

Yes, it is hard to believe that Clarence Thomas would ever be the Republican nominee. Then again, most people thought an inexperienced African-American often mistaken for a Muslim could never defeat presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton, much less be elected president.

Man charged after cooking own meal at Denny's

(AP) ? Police say a Wisconsin man took the Denny's restaurant chain slogan "America's diner is always open" too far, marching into one of the restaurants, announcing he was the new boss and cooking himself dinner.

James Summers walked into a Madison Denny's on Tuesday dressed in a maroon tie and black trench coat and carrying a briefcase, according to police. He strode into the manager's office, told her he was the new general manager and then fixed himself a burger, fries and a soda before police arrived.

"This is why you don't dine and dash, kiddies," Summers yelled out to diners as officers took him away, police said in a release.

Police found a stun gun in a hip holster under his coat and crack pipes in his briefcase, a criminal complaint showed. Prosecutors charged him Wednesday with disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors, and felony possession of an electronic weapon.

According to the complaint and the police news release, Summers, 52, entered the Denny's and found restaurant manager Tracy Brant counting out the day's receipts in a back office. He announced he was her new general manager and would be starting work that evening.

Brant challenged him, saying corporate headquarters hadn't notified her of any new general manager. She suggested he had the wrong restaurant.

But Summers maintained his story, growing more confrontational after Brant told him she didn't believe him. He told her he was starting and that was final, investigators said in the complaint.

She was able to get Summers out of the office and close her door. She called a hiring manager who confirmed Summers didn't work for Denny's.

While she was on the phone, her cooks knocked on the door and told her Summers had prepared himself a meal. He was in the middle of eating when Brant confronted him again. She told him he didn't work for Denny's and he had to leave.

Summers shot back that he had worked for Denny's for 30 years and Brant wasn't going to tell him he couldn't work there. When Brant asked him how he planned to pay for his $10 meal, he told her he wouldn't ? and couldn't ? pay.

Brant called 911. Police found Summers as he was walking across the restaurant parking lot. He told officers that he had an alcohol and drug addiction, according to the complaint.

Summers' initial court appearance was Wednesday. Court records show a public defender represented him. A spokesman for the state public defender's office declined comment Thursday, saying the office won't represent Summers as the case progresses.

A Denny's employee referred calls to a Denny's area manager, who didn't immediately return a message left by The Associated Press. A manager told a reporter who visited the Madison restaurant Thursday afternoon no one would comment.

Summers is due back in court March 6 for a preliminary hearing.

Pregnant monkeys miscarry, avoid infanticide

When a new male gelada monkey takes control of a reproductive group, he will typically kill off the babies of his predecessor. Now, new research shows that pregnant females have an adaptive strategy to minimize their losses: They spontaneously miscarry.

In 1959, biologist Hilda Bruce first demonstrated the so-called Bruce effect in mice, where recently pregnant females miscarry after being exposed to novel males. Since then, researchers have documented the phenomena in other rodent species. However, until now, the Bruce effect seemed to be something restricted to the laboratory, as nobody had conclusively shown that it exists in wild animal populations. Moreover, studies have not shown that there is any evolutionary advantage to miscarrying when confronted with new males.

To see if the Bruce effect exists in gelada monkeys (Theropithecus gelada), Jacinta Beehner, an anthropologist at the University of Michigan, and her colleagues tracked 110 females across 21 groups of wild geladas living in the Simien Mountains National Park in Ethiopia.

"We saw that as soon as a new male came into a group, there were no births for the next six months," Beehner told LiveScience. In fact, the researchers documented only two births in these replacement groups in the five years of the study. "We get this big gap, screaming out that something is going on ? it's statistically almost impossible to get this by chance."

    1. Glitch found in faster-than-light neutrino setup

Science editor Alan Boyle's blog: Months after researchers reported that they measured neutrinos traveling faster than light, they're finding that the incredible result may have been due to a bad connector rather than a violation of relativity theory.

    2. Call this ancient rock carving 'little horny man'
    3. Relax, guys, we'll be around for a while...
    4. Goodness snakes! Sociable rattlers cuddle with kin

To be sure what they were seeing was indeed the Bruce effect, the researchers also took hormonal data from the fecal samples of females before and after a new male arrived. Out of the 10 cases of pregnancies the researchers looked at, eight of the females miscarried within two weeks of a new male coming on to the scene. Most surprising to the researchers, the miscarriages happened the same day the male took over.

Of the two females that didn't miscarry, one quickly showed signs of fertility swelling and eventually mated with the new male while still pregnant. The other didn't, and probably as a result, the male killed her infant, but didn't kill the infant of the female with whom he mated. This behavior suggests that the males figure out which babies are theirs simply by knowing which females they mated with, Beehner said.

Females that miscarried as soon as new males arrived also became pregnant again, and the researchers saw a twofold increase in births during the seven to 12 months after new males took over. They also found that females that experienced such primate infanticide took longer to become pregnant again, suggesting these miscarriages are evolutionarily advantageous to the mama monkeys.

Peter Brennan, a physiologist at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom who was not involved in the research, said that the study was quite convincing. "It's a great example of pregnancy block being demonstrated quite convincingly in the wild," said Brennan, who has studied the Bruce effect in lab mice. "And there's good evidence that it's adaptive in evolutionary terms."

Brennan is curious as to exactly how the females miscarry. In lab mice, he notes, females miscarry after picking up on chemical signals put off by the new males. "The actual physiological mechanism (in geladas) may be different," he said, adding that the miscarriages might be a response to social stress.

Beehner said that the next step is to pinpoint this mechanism, though this research cannot be conducted on a threatened wild primate like the gelada. Domestic horses may be good candidates for further research, as scientists have seen the Bruce effect in the species before, she said.

The special will follow the singer in her most private moments, as she deals with her very public recovery from personal issues, including an eating disorder and cutting. "Stay Strong" shows her confronting these problems while still working on her career, including going back on the road for a tour. Since leaving a trek with the Jonas Brothers in the fall of 2010 to enter treatment, the singer has leaned on the support of her family, friends and devoted fans, known as Lovatics.

Lovato will go into detail about the events that caused her to seek treatment and how she decided to share her personal struggles and journey with the world.

"I wanted to share my story but I knew it had to be honest, it had to be real," Lovato said in a statement. "I have daily challenges but so do many kids who are struggling to feel comfortable in their own skin. If opening up and sharing my story inspires even one person to stay strong or to get the help they need, I've succeeded."

Fans will get to hit the road with the singer, as well as travel home with her to Dallas, Texas, to see her family. She will also head back to the Illinois treatment center she entered in November 2010.

Lovato first teased the project on Tuesday when she tweeted a photo of her tattooed wrists reading "Stay Strong." "Lovatics-I wanted to tell you FIRST about a special I worked on with @MTV," she tweeted. "It premieres March 6th at 10pm!! #staystrong"

Lovato hit the road late last year for a solo trek shortly after dropping her third album, Unbroken. The personal record included the chart-topping hit single "Skyscraper."
