Brookfield, IL ? Community Support Services announces new funding for a program in Oak Park, to provide adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, over the
age of 22, opportunities to learn new skills. Community Support Services and West Suburban Special Recreation Association (WSSRA) have partnered with
funding from the Oak Park Mental Health Commission (OPMHC).
The OPMHC recently awarded CSS $20,000 to fund the ?Empowering Health and Wellness Initiative?. This initiative engages the participants in art, health, nutrition, fitness training, and curriculum from ?Learn to Earn? to learn
pre-employment skills and computer training.
?CSS is happy to be partnering with WSSRA and we are thankful to the Oak Park Mental Health Commission. We have worked on this for a long time and hopeful that this
program will provide activities that are educational and creative for adults with developmental disabilities,? said Sandra Ryan, Director of Vocational and Specialized Services.
Community Support Services is committed to providing opportunities for people with developmental disabilities.? The program begins November 7, 2012-March 29, 2013, 8:30am-1:30pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, at the Fox Recreation Center in Oak Park.
