An Ohio man accused of shooting his 65-year-old wife as she lay in a hospital intensive care unit will be?arraigned?Monday, the Akron-Beacon Journal reported.
Akron police say John Wise, 66, entered the room of his wife Barbara at the General Medical Center Saturday evening and shot her while standing at her bedside.?Barbara Wise was declared brain dead Sunday morning.
Capt. Dan Zampelli of the Akron police Department told the Beacon-Journal the shooting may have been an attempted mercy shooting.
?It seems to be slanting that way. He wanted to take away her suffering,? Zampelli said.
The Journal reported that Wise is being charged with?aggravated?murder, but that police are consulting with officials about possibly changing the charges.?
An autopsy has been scheduled by the Summit County medical examiner.

A spokesperson for the hospital said one shot was fired. No one else was?injured.?
The couple had been married for 45 years.?
It is not clear why Barbara Wise was?initially?admitted to the ICU.
